The role of Culinary Cook at Aspen Alcove at Bardstown is a vital position responsible for the preparation of nutritious, appealing, and high-quality meals designed to meet the specialized dietary needs of senior residents. This role requires culinary skills combined with a compassionate understanding of the importance of food in enhancing residents' quality of life. Culinary Cooks at Aspen Alcove are entrusted with preparing meals that are not only palatable but also nutritionally balanced, catering to any special dietary restrictions or preferences. The position emphasizes food safety, proper sanitation, and maintaining an inviting dining atmosphere. Responsibilities include planning seasonally inspired menus, monitoring food temperatures to ensure safety, and tasting dishes to guarantee quality and flavor standards. In addition to cooking, the role involves supervising servers in food preparation, cleanliness, and service to ensure that residents’ needs are seamlessly met. Culinary Cooks are also tasked with maintaining a clean and organized workspace, assisting with inventory and delivery management, and collaborating with the Culinary Director to provide daily Chef’s Choice items that add variety and delight to the menu. The position requires excellent organizational and time-management skills, leadership abilities, and a positive, enthusiastic outlook. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, completed ServSafe certification, and be willing to engage in additional duties as needed. Job Duties

  • Prepare palatable, attractive, nutritionally adequate meals in batches ensuring proper temperature
  • taste all food before serving to residents to ensure the food is good quality and palatable
  • cover all hot plates and place under a heat lamp for delivery
  • cover and place cold plates in a designated area, ensuring all are served at the proper temperature
  • plan menus and prepare seasonally inspired meals, including any special dietary requirements
  • monitor and record food temperatures at each meal
  • frequently taste and adjust food for proper appearance, flavor, smell, and consistency
  • plan Chef’s Choice items to be served daily, verifying selection with Culinary Director as requested
  • supervise servers to prepare food, clean, and store supplies and equipment
  • oversee servers as they complete resident checklists and communicate to ensure residents’ needs are met
  • assist in receiving and storage of deliveries from vendors
  • maintain a clean food service work area as food preparation and service is in process
