Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience cooking in a high-volume food establishment or completion of culinary vocational training
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions
- Excellent knife skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation protocols
- Ability to maintain professional appearance and conduct
- Willingness to work a nine-month schedule from August to May
- Ability to perform physical tasks including cutting, trimming, and baking
- Ability to use commercial kitchen and baking equipment
- Ability to pass Pennsylvania criminal background check
Job Qualifications
- Two years of cook experience in a high-volume food establishment or completion of a culinary vocational training program
- Excellent culinary knife skills
- Ability to scale recipes for various batch sizes
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Strong customer service abilities
- Ability to read and follow recipes
- Clear communication skills
- Professional and respectful interaction with coworkers and management
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Culinary program certificate preferred
- Three to five years of experience in high-volume food service preferred
- Serv-safe certification preferred
- Knowledge or certification in food allergens preferred
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license preferred
Job Duties
- Consult daily menu and production sheets to prepare for shifts
- Read recipes and produce menu items consistent with standards
- Maintain departmental quality standards for all food products
- Place finished products on the line in a timely manner
- Ensure food safety and sanitation according to HACCP guidelines
- Store and label food items properly following FIFO rotation
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, surfaces, and work areas
- Assist with kitchen organization, workflow, and teamwork
- Monitor food quality through tasting and evaluation
- Cut, trim, bone, and carve meats and poultry for preparation
- Prepare bakery items under direction and maintain commercial baking equipment
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff regarding menu and portion sizes
- Record food temperature and production logs accurately
- Promote a professional and clean appearance
- Assist in catering, deli, salad, and retail food preparation as needed
