We are currently seeking a motivated Culinary Assistant to join our food service team on a per diem basis. This role is essential in the daily operations of our food service department, providing valuable assistance in food preparation and production for our residents. The position requires flexibility to work in various areas including pots and pans, dish-room, starter, entrée, cold foods, beverage, food court, and nourishment stations. The Culinary Assistant will be responsible for adherence to all state and federal sanitary regulations, ensuring safe and hygienic food handling practices. The role demands attention to detail, teamwork, and a proactive attitude to maintain cleanliness and efficient food service operations. Scheduled shifts range from 4pm to 8pm, including every other weekend, totaling 10 to 15 hours per week. Pay for this position ranges from $17.00 to $21.75 per hour, reflecting the importance and responsibilities of the role in supporting the well-being of our residents.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous work experience in food service or culinary role
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • good communication skills
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform cleaning tasks

Job Qualifications

  • serve safe certification helpful
  • previous work experience in a kitchen preferably in a long-term care facility very helpful

Job Duties

  • work in all areas of the food service department including pots and pans dish-room starter entrée cold foods beverage food court and nourishment positions
  • assist in food preparation thickening beverages pouring beverages dishes cleaning according to production pages and assignments
  • knowledge and adherence to all state and federal regulations
  • knowledge and adherence to all sanitary regulations governing the handling preparation and serving of food
  • complete tray line cleaning and closing report according to the assignment
  • comply with department policies and procedures
  • be aware of materials safety and data sheets and all the chemicals used in the department
