Job Description
Jackson & Coker is a leading healthcare staffing and consulting company that partners with top medical facilities to provide specialized and flexible workforce solutions. The company is known for its commitment to quality, client satisfaction, and the well-being of healthcare professionals. Jackson & Coker collaborates with a wide range of healthcare providers, including hospitals, clinics, and surgical centers, delivering tailored staffing services that help facilities meet their operational goals while ensuring excellent patient care. With a reputation for seamless logistics, outstanding support, and industry-leading malpractice coverage, Jackson & Coker is a trusted partner in the healthcare staffing industry.
This opportunity is for a Cardiothoracic (CT) Surgery Inpatient Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) locum tenens position at a well-established facility near the Virginia Beach coast in southeastern Virginia. The position involves providing one week per month of coverage beginning in mid-August, with a schedule that can be Monday through Friday or Monday through Sunday, based on the candidate's availability and the client’s needs. Operating in a 295-plus bed facility that is not a designated trauma center, this role uniquely combines expertise in CT surgery assistance in the operating room and comprehensive inpatient floor care, including rounding in the intensive care unit and emergency department consultations.
The role requires the NP or PA to serve as the first assistant in the OR, specifically performing Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH), which is a critical skill expected of applicants. Alongside a surgical team of two to three CT surgeons and supported by two to three other CT surgery advanced practitioners, the provider will manage mid to low patient volumes, averaging one to six cases per day, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities encompass thorough pre- and post-operative management of complex CT surgery patients, including patient assessments, treatment planning, diagnostic test ordering and interpretation, medication management, performing bedside procedures within scope, patient education, and detailed documentation.
Candidates must hold an active and unrestricted Virginia medical license and DEA registration. Experience in CT surgery and documented case logs highlighting EVH skills are essential for success in this role. The position offers the chance to work closely with an expert surgical team and contribute to high-quality patient care in a well-equipped hospital setting using the Epic EMR system for inpatient care and Cerner for outpatient documentation.
Jackson & Coker offers an exceptional locum tenens experience backed by top-rated malpractice insurance and comprehensive logistical support through an in-house travel agency and credentialing coordinators. The company emphasizes a supportive environment with 24/7 recruiter availability to promptly address any issues, enabling the provider to focus fully on delivering patient-centered care. This engagement represents an excellent opportunity for CT surgery advanced practice providers seeking flexible work schedules, competitive compensation, and the support of an industry-recognized leader in healthcare staffing and recruitment.
