The focus of Community Schools is to create engaging, accessible, and vital athletic and enrichment opportunities that foster student growth, well-being, and community involvement. As part of this mission, the department emphasizes alignment with community needs, ensuring that programs are relevant, inclusive, and fiscally responsible. The Community Schools Athletic and Enrichment Coordinator position plays a pivotal role in this department by overseeing the planning, development, and management of district-wide intramural and interscholastic athletic programs for K-8 students, as well as organizing sports camps and enrichment activities during after-school hours, late starts, and summer sessions.

Located primarily at the Murphey Administration Center while supporting all school sites, the schedule varies according to program needs, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role. The coordinator will operate under the general direction of the Director of Community Schools and is responsible for addressing the complexities involved in program administration, student engagement, and staff supervision. This role extends beyond typical athletic coordination to include strategic partnership-building with community stakeholders, marketing and communication efforts to promote programs effectively, and ensuring compliance with policies such as student eligibility and attendance requirements.

The individual in this position will be instrumental in supervising and developing Community Schools staff, hiring qualified coaches, and fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous quality improvement throughout their programs. Attendance and active participation in relevant leagues, such as the Northwest League, as well as the regular monitoring and maintenance of athletic facilities, are critical aspects of this coordinator's responsibilities. Leadership skills such as accountability, results orientation, resilience, and problem-solving are essential to meet the position's demands while promoting a supportive and positive atmosphere for students, parents, and staff. This role is integral to advancing the district’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for all participants in its athletic and enrichment programs. "About" the strategic vision, the coordinator is expected to innovate and execute long-term planning that enhances the programs' impact within the community while advocating effectively for CFSD’s interests.

Overall, the Community Schools Athletic and Enrichment Coordinator is a key leadership position designed for a seasoned professional with relevant experience in athletic administration, education, or related fields who is passionate about developing impactful programs that contribute to the wellness and development of young students.
