Job Description
Norwegian Cruise Line is a renowned leader in the cruise industry, known for creating unique and memorable travel experiences. Among its distinguished fleet is the M/S Pride of America, a landmark vessel that holds the distinction of being the first US-flagged cruise ship in nearly half a century. This ship stands out not only for its unique registration but also for its dedication to serving the Hawaiian market exclusively, offering passengers an immersive experience of the islands from the ports of Honolulu, Kahului, Lahaina, and Nawiliwili. With a crew of 935 members, the Pride of America is a floating community that upholds exceptional standards of hospitality and service, emblematic of Norwegian Cruise Line's commitment to quality and American maritime tradition.
Working aboard the M/S Pride of America provides a distinctive opportunity to be part of a pioneering cruise operation that is uniquely American. As the vessel is US-flagged, it requires a US crew, emphasizing the importance of US maritime jobs and the benefits associated with domestic employment standards and protections. The cruise line actively seeks hospitality professionals who are energetic and possess recent and relevant experience to join their team. Opportunities exist in various roles such as Assistant Cook, Assistant Waiter, Laundry Personnel, Stateroom Attendant, Utility worker in galley and hotel areas, and Waiter. Each position is critical in delivering an exceptional guest experience aboard the ship.
Candidates who join the Pride of America can expect a full-time role with competitive compensation starting at $16.00 per hour, with overtime pay included to increase earning potential. Monthly salaries can range from $3,000 to $3,730, resulting in a gross base salary between $18,000 and $22,380 for a typical six-month assignment working 56 hours a week. This compensation package is complemented by gratuity pay where eligible and significant personal savings opportunities, as room, food, and transportation are provided on board. The company also offers paid training to support employee development and ensure high standards of service are maintained.
Potential employees should be prepared for a career at sea that blends professional growth with the adventure of maritime life. Norwegian Cruise Line hosts virtual job fairs, facilitating an easy and accessible recruitment process that includes an informative presentation about life and work aboard the ship followed by one-on-one interviews. The application process requires candidates to watch the full presentation and participate in interviews to be considered for employment. Applicants from Memphis, TN, or surrounding regions who can reliably commute or are planning to relocate to start work are particularly encouraged to apply.
Working on the Pride of America is more than just a job – it is an opportunity to join a vibrant team that delivers outstanding hospitality in one of the world's most scenic cruising locations. Established in 2005, with its signature Hawaiian itineraries, it promises a culturally rich and dynamic workplace. Employees not only gain valuable experience and competitive pay, but also enjoy unique benefits stellar personal savings possibilities, and the chance to travel while earning. Anyone passionate about hospitality and interested in a maritime career will find joining the Norwegian Cruise Line team aboard the Pride of America a rewarding venture with ample opportunity for personal and professional fulfillment.
