Job Description

Norwegian Cruise Line is a globally recognized leader in the cruise industry, known for delivering exceptional vacation experiences to passengers around the world. Among their fleet, the M/S Pride of America holds a special place as the first US-flagged cruise ship in nearly fifty years. Launched in 2005, this ship uniquely serves the Hawaiian market year-round, sailing from Honolulu to scenic destinations such as Kahului and Lahaina on Maui, and Nawiliwili on Kauai. What sets Pride of America apart is its American registration status, which mandates the employment of a fully US-based crew. This distinction makes working aboard this ship a unique opportunity to contribute to a distinctive and culturally rich cruising experience.

The Pride of America is home to 935 dedicated crew members who work collaboratively to provide guests with outstanding hospitality and service. Norwegian Cruise Line's commitment to excellence is reflected in its selection of enthusiastic and hospitality-minded professionals for various shipboard roles, ensuring every passenger enjoys an unforgettable voyage. The company fosters a dynamic and inclusive work environment where teamwork, professionalism, and guest satisfaction are paramount.

Currently, Norwegian Cruise Line is inviting qualified individuals to explore exciting shipboard career opportunities aboard the Pride of America. These positions are full-time and offer competitive compensation starting at $16 per hour. Candidates can anticipate a rewarding career where they will gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting. The roles available include Assistant Cook (Prep Cook), Assistant Waiter, Laundry Personnel, Stateroom Attendant (Hotel Room Housekeeping), Utility (Janitorial in Galley and Hotel), and Waiter. While some positions may be subject to active deployment availability, Norwegian Cruise Line encourages interested applicants to consider the full spectrum of opportunities.

Working on the Pride of America provides not only a career but also life-enriching experiences as you navigate the beautiful Hawaiian Islands. Employees receive comprehensive training and enjoy significant personal savings, with accommodations, meals, and transportation all provided while on assignment. The company also offers gratuity pay where eligible and provides friends and family discounts, making it an attractive employment opportunity for those passionate about hospitality and eager to work in a unique maritime environment.

Norwegian Cruise Line is committed to hiring US-flagged ship crew members who qualify for the United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) and Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC). Applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a US citizenship or Permanent Resident status, pass a physical exam and drug screening, and have a reasonably clear background to meet MMC eligibility requirements. Furthermore, a High School Diploma or GED is a mandatory prerequisite.

Beyond its operational demands, Pride of America emphasizes employee well-being and career growth. The cruise line regularly holds virtual job fairs where prospective candidates can learn in-depth about life aboard the ship and engage in one-on-one interviews. These events are designed to inform, prepare, and recruit the next generation of cruise ship professionals. By joining the Pride of America team, crew members integrate into a vibrant workforce dedicated to exceptional hospitality, cultural exchange, and outstanding passenger service, all while enjoying the scenic allure of Hawaii's islands.
