Job Description
The Pride of America is a distinguished cruise ship operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, which holds the unique distinction of being the first U.S.-flagged cruise ship launched in nearly five decades when it was inaugurated in 2005. Serving the Hawaiian market exclusively, Pride of America sails year-round from Honolulu, offering itineraries that include visits to Kahului and Lahaina on Maui, as well as Nawiliwili on Kauai. This ship not only represents a premium cruise experience in the Hawaiian Islands but also embodies a proud commitment to U.S. maritime regulations and employment standards, as it is required to maintain a U.S. crew on board. Currently, the ship employs 935 crew members, all of whom contribute to delivering exceptional service and hospitality to guests in this unique and popular vacation destination.
Norwegian Cruise Line is hiring for various shipboard positions on Pride of America, inviting energetic professionals passionate about hospitality and customer service to join their team. The employment type for these positions is full-time, with a competitive compensation package starting at $16.00 per hour, and includes opportunities for overtime pay and gratuities. Prospective candidates should note that working on a U.S.-flagged vessel like the Pride of America involves compliance with specific U.S. Coast Guard requirements, including the possession of a valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Moreover, employees benefit from unique advantages, such as room and board provided during assignments, paid training, and exclusive discounts for friends and family.
Working aboard the Pride of America offers an exciting career opportunity that combines travel with professional growth in the hospitality industry. The current available positions include Assistant Cook (Prep Cook), Assistant Waiter, Laundry Personnel, Stateroom Attendant in Housekeeping, Utility (Janitorial) roles in both the Galley and Hotel areas, and Waiter positions. The ship's crew members are integral to ensuring that passengers enjoy a comfortable and memorable cruise experience amid the stunning backdrop of Hawaii.
Norwegian Cruise Line facilitates the recruitment process through regular virtual job fairs, providing prospective employees a convenient way to learn about life and work aboard the cruise ship and to participate in interviews directly from their location. This approach reflects the company's commitment to continuous hiring and ensuring a diverse and dedicated workforce is in place to support the ongoing success of the Pride of America. Relocation or reliable commuting to San Antonio, TX, is preferable for candidates, and applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and meet eligibility criteria for the required credentials.
In summary, joining the Pride of America team means becoming part of a dedicated crew working on an exceptional American cruise ship operating in a highly attractive market. The roles offer competitive pay, substantial benefits, the chance to live and work in a dynamic environment aboard a vessel sailing through some of the most beautiful destinations in the world, and the opportunity for career advancement within Norwegian Cruise Line's vibrant hospitality operations.
