The role of Server at Crosswater Grille is integral to maintaining the resort’s reputation for outstanding hospitality and culinary excellence. Servers are responsible for ensuring that every guest receives attentive and personalized service from the moment they sit down until their dining experience concludes. The responsibilities include taking accurate orders, delivering food and beverages, and acting as a liaison between the kitchen staff and guests to guarantee that all service standards are met or exceeded. In addition to serving, the Server must be knowledgeable about the menu, including meal periods and beverage options, and able to offer recommendations that enhance the dining experience, such as wine pairings or special dishes.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior hospitality experience preferred
  • At least one year high volume restaurant serving experience preferred
  • At least one year food and beverage experience preferred
  • At least six months POS system experience preferred
  • Adequate wine, beer and mixed drink knowledge preferred
  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must always ensure a teamwork environment
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid OLCC card and Food Handlers permit prior to start date
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs at shoulder height
  • Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 75 lbs

Job Duties

  • Take guest orders using table numbers and appropriate order taking sheets
  • Enter orders accurately into POS systems
  • Familiarize oneself with all menus including meal periods and beverage lists
  • Reset dining area after guests have finished
  • Perform food and beverage preparation duties such as preparing condiments and brewing coffee
  • Follow proper bookkeeping and cash handling procedures
  • Complete all opening, ongoing and closing side work with manager sign off
  • Serve food and beverages to guests
  • Inform and promote daily/nightly specials
  • Check guest identification for room charging privileges and minimum age for alcoholic beverages
  • Offer creative selling of products to guests
  • Answer questions and make recommendations on menu items
  • Clean and properly sanitize tables, counters and chairs after use
  • Explain menu items preparation including cooking methods and ingredients
  • Accommodate special requests and dietary issues
  • Recommend wine pairings to guests
  • Ensure final quality check on food and beverage before serving
  • Monitor assigned tables for satisfaction and additional service needs
  • Prepare guest bills accurately and ensure timely payment
  • Report tips and shift times accurately at shift end
