Job Description

Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is a vital extension of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, dedicated to providing valuable employment opportunities and hands-on training experiences for students. As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation supports approximately 1,500 student employees annually, offering a diverse range of positions across various fields such as technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality management, leadership, and research grants. These opportunities are designed to align with Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy, allowing students to gain practical skills in their areas of study while contributing meaningfully to the university community.

Beyond student employment, Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises plays an essential role in supporting the university's infrastructure by contributing operating support to over 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs each year, including the well-known Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. The Foundation also administers grants and contracts, enhances campus security, and supports several university publications. The Crew Member position at Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is an excellent opportunity for student workers to gain firsthand experience in a dynamic brewpub setting. Reporting directly to the Location Manager, the Crew Member plays an instrumental role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality food and service in an efficient, cost-effective manner. This position is designed not only to develop essential job skills such as customer service, teamwork, and professional development but also to immerse students in multiple facets of brewpub operations, including cash handling, accounting, inventory management, food production, sanitation, marketing, brewery operations, and event coordination.

This role requires a hands-on approach where every meal served must meet the highest standards of quality. The Crew Member is responsible for preparing food items such as pizza, salads, and sandwiches, maintaining cleanliness in various workstations including the food line, kitchen, and dishwashing area. Adherence to COVID-19 safety regulations is mandatory to ensure the well-being of all staff and patrons. Physical requirements include standing and walking for extended periods, manual dexterity, proper hearing and vision, verbal communication, reaching, and the ability to lift and move objects weighing at least 25 pounds.

Job Requirements

  • ServSafe Alcohol, TIPS, or other alcohol service certification recognized by the California Alcoholic Beverage Control Board prior to starting work
  • availability to work flexible hours including evenings and/or weekends
  • minimum of 8 hours availability for weekend shifts during employment
  • reliable transportation to and from work
