The Hourly Crew position at Penn Station East Coast Subs is a critical role that serves as the foundation for the efficient operation and success of each restaurant. Unlike many traditional restaurant models that segment staff into specific roles like cashier or cook, Penn Station adopts a unique approach by hiring versatile, talented individuals capable of excelling in multiple areas within the restaurant. As part of the Hourly Crew, employees will engage in a wide range of responsibilities. These include providing genuine and attentive guest service, preparing food through tasks such as prepping, cooking, and serving, and performing point-of-sale operations including ringing up customer orders and handling cash transactions. Additionally, crew members ensure stringent quality control by making sure only the best products are served, and they uphold the restaurant's standards of cleanliness and appearance. The position requires hands-on learning and mastery of all key stations within the restaurant, including order entry and closing, fresh cut fry station, wrap and run station, bread station, weigh station, and grill station.

With a comprehensive onboarding and training process, hourly crew members are supported every step of the way. This role not only builds foundational skills in customer service and food preparation but also instills a strong sense of teamwork, attention to detail, and efficient multitasking. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable transportation
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to stand for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • Previous customer service or food service experience is a plus

Job Duties

  • Provide genuine guest service
  • Prepare food including prepping, cooking, and serving
  • Ring guests orders into the Point of Sale and cash out their orders
  • Ensure quality control, serving only the best product
  • Maintain appearance and cleanliness of the restaurant
  • Learn and master all stations within the restaurant including order entry/order close, fresh cut fry station, wrap & run station, bread station, weigh station, grill station
