The role of a Full-Time Crew Member at Wendy's is at the frontline of customer interaction and service delivery. Crew members are expected to greet customers warmly, answer product-related questions effectively, and perform suggestive selling to enhance the customer experience. They take customer orders accurately and manage customer flow smoothly by staging customers in the serpentine area. This ensures that lines move efficiently, and no customer experience is compromised. In addition to order taking, crew members are responsible for assembling food items from serving or storage areas and serving beverages and desserts. Handling payments and assisting with any customer questions or complaints is another important part of the role, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Crew members also engage in food preparation tasks, including retrieving raw stock and maintaining cleanliness and order in eating and serving areas, all while following company policies and procedures carefully. This position demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work within a fast-paced environment where multitasking is common. Wendy's supports crew members with opportunities for training and certification, such as Crew Leader and Shift Supervisor certifications, enhancing skills and potential for career growth.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 16 years old or older
  • High school diploma preferred but not required
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with arms, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to lift at least 20 pounds
  • Ability to read and write simple correspondence
  • Ability to perform basic math operations
  • Ability to apply common sense to instructions
  • Ability to handle standardized situations
  • Exposure to high heat and cooking oils
  • Willingness to follow company policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • No prior experience or training required
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group situations with customers and coworkers
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with 10s and 100s
  • Ability to perform math operations using American money, weight, volume, and distance measurements
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
  • Ability to handle standardized situations with occasional or no variables
  • Crew Leader Certification
  • Shift Supervisor Certification

Job Duties

  • Greets the customer
  • Suggestive sale and answer questions about products
  • Records the customer’s order
  • Stages customers in serpentine area to maintain a smooth customer flow
  • Selects requested food items from serving or storage areas and assembles items on serving tray or in takeout bag
  • Serves cold drinks, hot beverages, and desserts
  • Receives payment
  • Assists customers with questions or complaints
  • Retrieves raw food stock and places at appropriate station for preparation
  • Performs duties to prepare food
  • Maintains orderly eating and serving areas
