The Taqueria Manager role at Goode Company represents a pivotal leadership position within the restaurant. This role comes with the responsibility of overseeing daily restaurant operations while ensuring that each customer enjoys a high-quality, authentic Texas dining experience. The Manager will be deeply involved in all aspects of service delivery, from training staff to managing food preparation and presentation. Not only is the Manager expected to uphold the company’s brand promise by maintaining high standards for food quality and service, but they also work collaboratively with the General Managers to manage financial performance, including profit and loss oversight.

This position demands a hands-on leader who enjoys direct engagement with both team members and customers alike. The Taqueria Manager is responsible for training, coaching, and motivating staff to perform their best while fostering a positive and productive work environment. They will handle scheduling, ensure health and safety compliance, monitor inventory deliveries for quality and quantity, and resolve customer concerns to maintain satisfaction and loyalty. The Manager must demonstrate high ownership of their role, acting as if the restaurant were their own business. Strong communication skills are essential, as is a proactive approach to problem-solving and managing operational challenges.

Job Requirements

  • 2 or more years of counter service management experience
  • Knowledge of kitchen operations including mesquite, prep, and line quality standards
  • Ability to run effective shifts in all restaurant aspects
  • Experience with P&L accountability preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office
  • Certifications in Allergen handling, Food Management, and TABC
  • Ability to train and manage restaurant staff
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills

Job Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of counter service management experience required
  • Knowledge of all kitchen operations including mesquite, prep, line quality identifiers and standards
  • Must demonstrate the ability to run effective shifts in all aspects of the restaurant
  • P&L accountability experience highly preferred
  • Spanish speaking a plus, not required
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Excellent computer skills and Microsoft Office experience
  • Allergen, Food Manager, and TABC certified

Job Duties

  • Ensure proper guest service to all guests through constant evaluation of restaurant service performance
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding food quality, service and accommodations
  • Complete hands-on training and knowledge of each position within the restaurant
  • Monitor wait times in the serving line
  • Provide excellent quality and presentation of all food to all guests
  • Train team members in food preparation procedures and company standards, while monitoring food preparation methods, portion sizes, garnishing, and presentation to ensure food is prepared and served in an acceptable manner
  • Schedule, receive, and verify food and beverage deliveries for proper quality and quantity
  • Ensure product safety by training all team members on food preparation, sanitation, and safety procedures
  • Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving and building maintenance
  • Inspect supplies, equipment, work areas and property to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards
  • Understand safety and security practices to ensure safety to team members and patrons
  • Responsible for working with other managers to meet the financial and operational targets while maintaining high operating standards
  • Responsible for personnel actions such as hiring, training, disciplining, and terminating as necessary in accordance with Goode Company policies and applicable laws
  • Teach and train staff about the Brand values and culture of Goode Company
  • Effectively manage schedules to ensure the restaurant is staffed accordingly and per company policy
  • Accountable for food standards, systems, cleanliness, organization, team member engagement and the guest experience
  • Monitor employee appearance and uniform throughout shift
  • Communicate effectively with other managers and team members
  • Build employee morale and rapport by leading by example, teamwork, and hands-on management approach (training, coaching, motivating, and follow-up)
  • Conduct shift meetings as necessary
  • Display a sense of ownership. Make decisions as if the restaurant were your own
  • Be resourceful in handling assignments and solving problems
