The Seafood Team Member role at Whole Foods Market plays a vital part in supporting the seafood department’s operations by providing excellent customer service, maintaining product quality, and ensuring sanitation standards. This hourly position offers a wage range of $16.00 to $20.70 per hour, commensurate with experience. Key responsibilities include assisting with counter service, stocking, cleaning, and maintaining safe and appealing seafood displays. Employees are expected to follow store standard operating procedures and demonstrate flexibility by performing duties across different team member roles as needed.

Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to perform motions including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Ability to use knives and cutting equipment safely
  • Ability to work in wet and cold environments
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools such as box cutters and electric pallet jacks
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperature ranges including below freezing and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit

Job Duties

  • Ensure fresh and appealing seafood displays by checking quality and rotating products
  • Maintain accurate department signage and pricing
  • Stock and organize back stock properly
  • Keep work and shopping areas safe, clean, and well-organized
  • Assist with sampling programs by maintaining sample areas
  • Clean cases, glass, signs, coolers, smokers, floors, and drains
  • Prepare seafood including skinning, boning, cooking, and smoking fish
  • Box, label, and date cooked fish
  • Participate in periodic inventory checks
  • Arrive on time, properly dressed and groomed
  • Provide excellent customer service and suggestive selling
  • Answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • Follow health, sanitation, weights and measures, and safe work practices
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties accurately
  • Report safety hazards and violations immediately
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
