Job Description
The Salvation Army is a renowned international Christian organization and church that provides a broad range of social services and spiritual support to communities worldwide. Rooted in the core doctrines and mission of advancing the teachings and mission of Jesus Christ, The Salvation Army acts as a beacon of hope and assistance to those in need. Apart from spiritual work, it offers social programs including food assistance, shelters, addiction recovery programs, and youth activities.
This position is for an active, uniform-wearing Salvationist in good standing, committed deeply to the organization's faith-based mission and community service. The role primarily serves as both a spiritual leader and an operational coordinator within a local Corps. As an evangelist, the individual spreads the message of Jesus Christ, fostering spiritual regeneration and growth, encouraging membership not only within The Salvation Army but also into the broader body of Christ. The person in this position is responsible for developing and leading worship services alongside ministerial programs, providing spiritual guidance and leadership to congregation members and the wider community.
Beyond ministry activities, the role entails significant involvement in the planning, coordination, administration, and evaluation of the Corps' day-to-day functions. This includes coordinating social service programs, managing finances and budgets, recruiting and supervising volunteers, and overseeing community outreach activities. An integral part of the role is working across all age groups within the Corps, especially focusing on youth ministries such as Adventure Corps and Sunday School teacher development. The position also involves collaborating with other Salvation Army mission programs, coordinating events that connect the Corps with centers, clubs, shelters, and other mission-based services.
The role requires a balance of physical activity and office work, with duties involving regular hand movements, reading, writing, and communication, alongside occasional physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, and traveling to conduct community and home visits. This dynamic nature of the work demands a highly dedicated individual with strong organizational, leadership, and spiritual skills.
Overall, this position offers a unique opportunity to serve both God and community through dedicated ministry, comprehensive program management, and social outreach, preserving the Christian doctrine and promoting social welfare in line with The Salvation Army's cherished traditions.
