Job Description
The Salvation Army is a globally recognized charitable and religious organization known for its unwavering commitment to serving those in need through spiritual guidance, social services, and community outreach programs. As a faith-based entity, The Salvation Army integrates traditional Christian values with practical service initiatives designed to uplift individuals and families. The organization operates a network of local Corps (churches) which act as focal points for worship, evangelism, and community assistance. These Corps provide a nurturing environment where members of diverse backgrounds come together not only to worship but to participate in various social service programs that address poverty, homelessness, and other critical societal issues. The Salvation Army's mission centers on the proclamation of Jesus Christ as redeemer, with the goal of fostering spiritual regeneration, holistic development, and social upliftment in the communities it serves.
This position is an essential role within The Salvation Army Corps, requiring an active, uniform-wearing Salvationist in good standing. The primary responsibility is to serve both as an evangelist within the community and as a leader in developing and executing worship and ministerial programs. The role includes providing spiritual guidance and leadership, assisting the Corps Officer with planning and managing daily operations, and coordinating various outreach and social service initiatives. This position demands a person of strong faith and leadership skills who is dedicated to advancing the Corps' mission through dynamic worship experiences, youth and adult ministry programs, and effective community engagement.
The individual in this position will play a pivotal role in fostering spiritual growth and community involvement by leading worship services, planning evangelistic efforts, and facilitating program development for all age groups. Responsibilities include assisting with the coordination of social service programs that provide critical assistance to people in need, recruiting and supervising volunteers, and maintaining financial oversight to ensure the Corps operates within budgetary guidelines. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills to connect with diverse populations and the ability to plan and execute events that bridge the church with broader community outreach efforts.
Education and experience requirements include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field, alongside demonstrated mission work or program development experience within church or Corps settings. A valid state driver's license is also necessary due to travel requirements for community and home visits. Physical demands are moderate, requiring dexterity, sitting, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds.
This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated individual who is passionate about spiritual leadership and community service. The successful candidate will be part of an organization that values faith, commitment, and compassionate outreach to transform lives. The Salvation Army provides a supportive environment for growth and offers the chance to make a tangible difference through effective ministry and service.
