Job Description

Sweetgreen is a prominent plant-forward food company dedicated to building healthier communities by connecting people to real, nutritious food. As a leader in the fast-casual dining space, Sweetgreen is revolutionizing the future of fast food with a focus on sustainability, quality ingredients, and exceptional customer experiences. The company values not only the health and wellness of its customers but also supports the growth and development of its team members across all levels, from restaurant associates to corporate roles. Sweetgreen places an emphasis on equal opportunity employment, fostering an inclusive culture that respects diversity across gender, race, age, and backgrounds. This commitment is reflected in their participation in the federal government’s E-Verify program and compliance with all applicable laws requiring fair hiring practices.

Joining Sweetgreen as a Team Member means becoming an ambassador of their mission — promoting healthier lifestyles through fresh, plant-based menu options. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to guest satisfaction by providing exceptional hospitality and supporting daily restaurant operations. Whether the focus is on customer interaction or food preparation, team members are supported and empowered to create memorable dining experiences that align with the company’s standards of quality and safety. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about food quality, hygiene standards, and team collaboration.

The Team Member role at Sweetgreen involves key responsibilities including food prep tasks such as portioning, chopping, and mixing ingredients, running the service line with accuracy and speed, interacting with customers by greeting, answering questions, and taking orders, as well as maintaining overall cleanliness by adhering to stringent sanitation protocols. Team members also handle kitchen tools and equipment safely and efficiently while supporting inventory management tasks such as restocking and rotating supplies. Effective communication and multitasking abilities are essential to thrive in this role, especially during peak hours, where teamwork and coordination play crucial roles.

Sweetgreen values career growth and offers a clear pathway for advancement, with top-performing team members able to progress to General Manager positions in as little as 36 months. The employment type is typically part-time with a minimum availability requirement of 12 hours per week, making it a flexible option for students, professionals seeking supplemental income, or anyone interested in joining a growth-oriented company dedicated to environmental and social impact.

This role comes with competitive wages, tip opportunities (depending on location and role), and numerous benefits for both part-time and full-time employees. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision plans, paid vacation and wellness time, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plans, free healthy meals during shifts, and access to exclusive Sweetgreen merchandise. Sweetgreen also cultivates a positive work environment with opportunities for skill development and ongoing support. Overall, this position offers an exceptional entry point for those looking to make a meaningful impact in the foodservice industry while advancing their own careers within a values-driven company.
