Job Description

Sweetgreen is a leading plant-forward food company dedicated to building healthier communities by connecting people to real, nutritious food. Known for its mission-driven approach, Sweetgreen offers fresh, sustainable, and delicious menu options that prioritize local and seasonal ingredients. As a company committed to environmental responsibility and social equity, Sweetgreen aims to transform fast food and quick-service dining by promoting wholesome eating habits and supporting sustainable agriculture. This progressive restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it’s a movement toward a healthier future, offering team members the opportunity to grow alongside the company and make a positive impact on their communities. Sweetgreen is proud to provide equal employment opportunities to all its team members and applicants, ensuring a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming workplace.

The Sweetgreen Team Member role is an essential part of this mission, serving as an ambassador who delivers exceptional hospitality and helps maintain smooth restaurant operations. This part-time or full-time position focuses on multiple aspects of the restaurant experience, including customer service, food preparation, station organization, and sanitation. Team Members are trained to prepare healthy food options quickly and accurately, interact warmly and efficiently with guests, and ensure that health and safety standards are consistently met. Top-performing Team Members have significant opportunities for advancement, including the potential to become General Manager within approximately 36 months. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food quality, safety, and guest satisfaction who thrive in fast-paced environments and embrace teamwork and proactive communication.

Team Members engage in a wide range of activities such as food prepping by portioning, chopping, mixing, and assembling fresh ingredients to build salads and other menu items according to strict guides and recipes. They also greet customers, take orders, and provide knowledgeable answers to menu questions to enhance the dining experience. Maintaining cleanliness and adhering to sanitation standards is critical to the role, as is operating kitchen tools and equipment safely and effectively. Team Members support inventory management by restocking and rotating supplies during shifts. The position involves a high degree of physical activity including lifting, bending, reaching, squatting, and frequent repetitive motions, so physical endurance is important. Sweetgreen values reliability, organization, and adaptability in its Team Members, encouraging a positive, supportive, and safe workplace where everyone can contribute to a healthier future.
