The college prides itself on promoting a welcoming atmosphere where students, faculty, and staff collaborate to create a vibrant campus life that challenges students to excel both academically and socially. The institution's commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is deeply embedded in its culture and operational philosophy, ensuring every student feels valued and empowered throughout their educational journey.
The Coordinator of Campus Recreation at Randolph College is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Director of Student Engagement and Support. This role plays a crucial part in enriching campus life by developing, implementing, and continuously assessing a comprehensive campus recreation program designed to support student engagement, wellness, and belonging. The position combines program development with active facilities management, including primary oversight of the esports arena and support responsibilities for the student center and attached fitness facility. It also involves creating diverse recreational, wellness, and outdoor excursion opportunities to enhance students' college experiences.
This role is pivotal in fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming recreational environment by supervising student staff and supporting daily operations. The Coordinator helps organize and execute student-led events and campus programming, requiring availability during some evenings and weekends. Furthermore, the position involves participation in the College's Administrative On-Call rotation to respond promptly to emergencies and other urgent campus needs. By managing a range of activities from esports tournaments to outdoor adventures, this coordinator ensures a vibrant and engaging recreational atmosphere keyed to student needs and interests.
Key responsibilities include the design and evaluation of intramural sports, fitness initiatives, informal recreational activities, and esports programming. The role demands ongoing needs assessments and trend analysis to inform program improvement and innovation. Overseeing esports operations involves scheduling, equipment maintenance, and staffing management. Moreover, the coordinator supports day-to-day management of the student center and fitness facility, maintaining high standards in safety, cleanliness, and customer service.
The position demands recruitment, training, evaluation, and leadership development for student employees across multiple recreation-related areas. Planning and implementing outdoor excursions and experiential learning opportunities further enrich the role, requiring careful program logistics, equipment oversight, and risk mitigation. Compliance with institutional policies, emergency protocols, and documentation upkeep are essential aspects of this multifaceted position.
The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in student engagement, program development, facility management, and risk awareness. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, a commitment to inclusive excellence, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are crucial for success. The Coordinator of Campus Recreation at Randolph College offers an excellent opportunity for professionals seeking to make a meaningful impact on student wellness and campus community life through dynamic and innovative recreation programming.
