Estes Forwarding Worldwide is currently seeking a Coordinator for North American Operations based in Tacoma, Washington. This is a regular full-time hourly position, with a pay range of $29.90 to $31.90 per hour. The Coordinator will play a vital role within the North American Operations team, reporting directly to the Leader of North American Operations. The primary responsibility of this role is to evaluate pricing and transportation options to deliver outstanding customer service while supporting both the department and its domestic clients. This role demands expertise in managing complex logistics networks, analyzing transportation options, and ensuring the timely, efficient delivery of freight.

The Coordinator is integral to coordinating shipments through a robust network of internal and external transportation suppliers. Utilizing company training and experience, the Coordinator will determine the most efficient, cost-effective, and time-sensitive methods to provide requested forwarding services. In addition to logistical expertise, this position requires a strong customer service orientation to address and resolve disputes between customers and vendors, thereby preserving important relationships and the company’s reputation. The Coordinator will handle multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines, proactively identifying shipments at risk and taking the necessary control measures to ensure on-time delivery.

This position demands proactive communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and thorough documentation practices. The Coordinator must carefully document shipment details, including special customer requests and compliance documents such as those required by TSA and DOT regulations for hazardous materials. The position also includes a requirement for flexible work hours, including various shifts and potential 24-hour on-call rotations. The Coordinator must maintain service integrity by aiming for 100% on-time delivery and ensuring full compliance with security standards like the Indirect Air Carrier Standard Security Program and company policies concerning C-TPAT and TSA procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent in related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in transportation, logistics or related business
  • Experience with Dangerous Goods/HAZ-MAT certification desired
  • Ability to speak English
  • Regular, reliable attendance
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours as needed
  • Pass drug screen and background check
  • EFW will not sponsor new applicant for employment authorization

Job Duties

  • Determine most efficient, cost effective, time sensitive transportation processes using internal and external suppliers
  • Evaluate multiple transportation options including pricing, timing, availability, and volume with management direction
  • Serve as front-line communicator for customer and vendor disputes and resolve with exceptional customer service
  • Manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Proactively identify shipments at risk of service failure and ensure on-time delivery
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with service providers
  • Work flexible hours and shifts
  • Research all possible routings via airlines, line-haul, pick-up/delivery, scheduling, and geographic servicing
  • Document all shipments with detailed trace notes and accurate data entry
  • Maintain on-time service integrity aiming for 100% on time
  • Participate in 24-hour on call rotation as requested
  • Communicate promptly any issues jeopardizing shipments and escalate to management as needed
  • Ensure 100% compliance with TSA and security regulations
  • Utilize internet tracking applications to monitor shipment status
  • Comply with C-TPAT and TSA security procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
