JW Marriott, a luxury brand under Marriott International, comprises more than 100 iconic hotels in prime urban and resort locations worldwide. JW Marriott places a strong emphasis on its employees, recognizing that their happiness directly contributes to delivering outstanding guest experiences. The organization fosters a culture of confidence, innovation, genuineness, and intuitiveness among its staff, continuing the legacy set by the company's founder, J. Willard Marriott. Employees at JW Marriott benefit from a workplace that cultivates community, promotes camaraderie across diverse teams, and offers exceptional opportunities for training, career development, and recognition. The company prides itself on providing a workplace where employees can pursue their passions within a luxurious environment that prioritizes holistic well-being.
The role in question is a Banquet Event Coordinator position within Marriott Hotels, specifically aligned with JW Marriott standards. This position is pivotal for ensuring superior event and banquet management that delights guests and fulfills organizational goals. The coordinator is responsible for liaising and collaborating with group coordinators or hosts prior to the event reception, making formal introductions, and confirming that all preparations are in place and align with the agreed plan. A key part of the role involves carefully reading and analyzing banquet event orders to gather comprehensive guest information, determine the appropriate event organization and timeline, and identify specific guest needs. This includes managing various buffet stations and food service arrangements.
The Banquet Event Coordinator is also tasked with managing all special preparations related to banquets, ensuring these are tracked and executed flawlessly to meet high hospitality standards. This role requires strict adherence to company safety policies and procedures, reporting any maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries promptly, and completing necessary safety training and certifications. The coordinator must maintain a professional appearance, ensuring clean and appropriate uniforms, and protect the company's confidential information and assets.
A successful candidate will support all coworkers with dignity and respect, contribute actively to team goals, and consistently meet quality assurance standards. Physically, the role demands the ability to move, lift, transport, push, drag, and position objects up to approximately 25 pounds (11.25 kg) without assistance. The position involves standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods throughout shifts and requires reaching overhead or below knee levels, bending, twisting, stooping, and navigating confined or elevated spaces, uneven or slippery surfaces, and stairs or service ramps.
Communication skills are essential, including greeting guests according to company standards, speaking clearly and professionally with others, and answering phone calls correctly with proper etiquette. Additional reasonable tasks may be assigned by supervisors to ensure smooth operation of banquet events. Generally, candidates should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate and at least one year of related work experience. No supervisory experience or licenses/certifications are required for this entry-level role.
Marriott International is deeply committed to equal employment opportunities, inclusivity, and diversity. The company actively fosters an environment that values and celebrates the diverse backgrounds of its associates and prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities, veterans, or other protected characteristics under applicable laws. By joining Marriott Hotels and JW Marriott, employees become part of a prestigious worldwide network where their best work, purpose fulfillment, and professional growth are encouraged and supported. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a legendary brand by delivering outstanding banquet event experiences while developing skills and career within one of the most respected hospitality companies globally.
