Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen cooking and preparation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members
  • Capability to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity
  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, and dining room personnel
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift heavy items
  • Ability to work standing for long periods

Job Duties

  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served
  • Knows and complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure smooth service
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation including tables, grills, broilers, fryers, sauté burners, convection ovens, flat top range, and refrigeration equipment
  • Prepares items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning, and/or marinating
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes
  • Handles, stores, and rotates all products properly
  • Assists in food prep during off-peak periods
  • Closes kitchen properly following closing checklist
  • Attends scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by kitchen manager or manager-on-duty
