This particular opportunity is located at 1202 E. McKinley Ave in Mishawaka, Indiana. The role of Cookie/Cake Production Associate is an integral position within the Central Bakery. Reporting to both the Floor Manager and the Central Bakery Manager, this role requires an individual who can consistently deliver high-quality bakery products by operating various machinery such as mixers and dough/batter pumpers. The successful candidate will learn and perform cookie mixing, cake mixing, production, and baking while ensuring all products meet quality standards in terms of weight, appearance, and overall condition as they are trayed up. Adherence to safe and sanitary food handling procedures is critical to this role to prevent contamination and food-borne illnesses.
This hourly position offers a starting wage of $17.00 and typically requires working early mornings starting at 4 a.m. from Monday, Wednesday through Saturday, with Sundays and Tuesdays off. The schedule may vary based on production needs or holidays. SpartanNash seeks individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, routine production environment where teamwork and meeting deadlines are essential. This role demands physical stamina and coordination due to the frequent need to bend, stretch, stand for long periods, and handle equipment and materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Beyond production duties, associates are expected to maintain clean work areas, wash equipment, take out trash, and assist in other production areas as needed, demonstrating flexibility and cooperation within the team.

Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
- Some relevant experience or training in bakery or production work
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Capable of standing for extended periods
- Ability to read and understand mix formulas
- Comfortable operating bakery machinery
- Ability to bend, stretch, and perform repetitive tasks
- Flexible availability including Monday, Wednesday-Saturday
- Willingness to work early morning shifts starting at 4 a.m
Job Qualifications
- Ability to work with deadlines and follow directions
- Basic math and reading skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced production environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Duties
- Operate bakery machinery including mixers and dough/batter pumpers
- Mix cookie and cake dough according to established procedures
- Ensure product quality by monitoring weights and appearance as products are trayed
- Follow safe and sanitary food handling policies to prevent contamination
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment
- Assist with waste disposal and general housekeeping
- Adapt to varying production needs and work in other bakery areas as required
