The role of Food Prep Cook at the Guntersville food service location invites candidates who are passionate about cooking and making a positive impact on others' lives through meal preparation. Positioned within the food production team, the Food Prep Cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation of pre-defined recipes and menus designed to meet strict time-bound requirements for meal deliveries. This position is part-time and offers a competitive pay rate of $15 per hour.
In this role, the Food Prep Cook works closely under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor and Unit Management to ensure meals are prepared according to standardized recipes using precise portioning controls. Candidates need to be proficient in operating food preparation equipment such as meat slicers, steam kettles, convection ovens, warmers, and pallet jacks. Additionally, it is essential for the Food Prep Cook to adhere to food safety, sanitation, and temperature control guidelines to maintain compliance with company policies and government regulations.
Beyond meal preparation, the Food Prep Cook assists with kitchen cleanup, packing food products accurately, and performing general utility duties. The position requires maintaining accurate paperwork and records, reflecting stringent attention to detail and organizational skills. Staff members are also expected to participate in all mandated company training programs, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and ServSafe certification, to uphold food safety standards.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cooking experience in an institutional setting preferred
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized recipes
- Good communication skills
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Willingness to participate in required food safety training
- Availability to work part-time hours
- Ability to meet attendance and punctuality standards
Job Qualifications
- Cooking experience (institutional preferred)
- Able to operate equipment such as meat slicer, steam kettles, convection ovens, warmers, pallet jack
- Able to follow written recipes and cooking/packaging instructions
- Ability to meet employer's attendance standard
- Ability to portion and pack to accurate quantities/counts
Job Duties
- Prepare meals under direction of Kitchen Supervisor/Unit Management for distribution following standardized recipes and portioning controls
- Follow food safety, sanitation and temperature controls
- Assist with clean up of kitchen, pack area and other areas as directed
- Perform general utility duties as directed
- Preparation of meats, sauces, casseroles, desserts, gravies
- Meat slicing
- Complete and maintain paperwork and records as required
- Assist with sanitation and housekeeping of the facility
- Pack food products and components accurately
- Complete all required recordkeeping
- Participate in all required company training including but not limited to: HACCP, GMP requirements, ServSafe certification
- Provide support to Pack and Sanitation staff
