Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to cook large quantities of food
  • knowledge of dietary procedures and related laws and regulations
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and proper use of supplies and equipment
  • ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and standing for prolonged periods
  • capability to work Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 2:30 PM
  • ability to work in a warm and ventilated kitchen environment
  • ability to respond to emergencies and assist in resident evacuation
  • capability to handle infectious waste safely
  • good communication skills
  • ability to follow dietary book policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent/GED preferred
  • knowledge of dietary procedures including therapeutic diets
  • ability to make independent decisions when necessary
  • good interpersonal skills to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, and staff
  • experience with food safety and sanitation protocols
  • ability to participate in continuing education programs

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and local standards
  • cook a variety of foods in large quantities
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas
  • prepare menus and order groceries
  • restock kitchen supplies
  • ensure dietary book is completed and updated daily
  • perform scheduled cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
