Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ability to cook large quantities of food
- knowledge of dietary procedures and related laws and regulations
- ability to maintain cleanliness and proper use of supplies and equipment
- ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and standing for prolonged periods
- capability to work Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 2:30 PM
- ability to work in a warm and ventilated kitchen environment
- ability to respond to emergencies and assist in resident evacuation
- capability to handle infectious waste safely
- good communication skills
- ability to follow dietary book policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent/GED preferred
- knowledge of dietary procedures including therapeutic diets
- ability to make independent decisions when necessary
- good interpersonal skills to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, and staff
- experience with food safety and sanitation protocols
- ability to participate in continuing education programs
Job Duties
- Prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and local standards
- cook a variety of foods in large quantities
- maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas
- prepare menus and order groceries
- restock kitchen supplies
- ensure dietary book is completed and updated daily
- perform scheduled cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
