We are currently seeking a skilled Cook/Chef to join our team at the Southeast Community College - Lincoln location. This full-time position involves preparing delicious meals with expertise and dedication, ensuring a high standard of quality and presentation. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment and have a solid understanding of various cooking techniques and ingredient usage. The Cook/Chef will be instrumental in maintaining a sanitized and orderly kitchen environment while also collaborating with fellow kitchen staff to innovate and improve menu items. Job Requirements

  • Physical requirements of the job including continuous standing/walking and other means of mobility up to 8 hours a day
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull and frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as cook
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods such as grilling, baking, boiling
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Very good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to create new menu items and improve existing recipes
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking such as chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat
  • Prepare, portion, cook food items for various meal periods or special events
  • Ability to follow basic recipes and production information
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Follow all company HACCP and safety policies
