The Rathskeller Pizza & Grill is one of the dining locations on this vibrant campus that caters to students and staff by providing fresh and quality food options. Operating from 4:00 pm to 11:30 pm daily, this location is a popular late-night hot spot for the campus community, delivering a unique culinary experience with a focus on fresh preparation and excellent customer service.

The Cook/Cashier role at Rathskeller Pizza & Grill is a vital position that supports the smooth operation of this busy dining location. This role involves working in an open kitchen with a cook-to-order concept, handling both hot and cold menu items prepared from fresh and frozen states. Employees in this position are responsible for a variety of tasks ranging from food preparation, maintaining kitchen standards for food safety and cleanliness, operating the point-of-sale (POS) system, and delivering excellent customer service. This position often requires team members to operate pizza making equipment, fryer, and flat-top grill stations, alongside managing opening, set-up, and closing procedures.

One of the unique aspects of this role is that it combines culinary duties with cashier responsibilities, offering a versatile and engaging work experience. The cook/cashier is also required to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the dining room, restock inventory such as convenient store shelving and drink coolers, and may be asked to support other campus dining locations as needed. This requires adaptability and a commitment to maintaining the high standards of the Florida Tech dining services.

This position is open to candidates who preferably have a high school diploma or GED and experience or education in the food service industry. Job Requirements

  • Candidate possessing a current / valid driver’s license is preferred, as this enables them to drive University vehicles for the purpose of food deliveries to the campus community
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time in a fast-paced work environment
  • Valid US driver’s license and clean driving record

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Education and work experience in the food service or similar industry has valued merit
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to operate POS register system

Job Duties

  • May be asked to work at another Campus Dining location as needed
  • The position is typically in our Rathskeller Pizza and Grill quick service, grocery, snack bar and pizza delivery operation and is accountable for following standardized recipes
  • Operating the cash register according to specified procedures, taking customer orders and maintaining the kitchen area to meet sanitation, health and safety standards
  • Properly rotate perishable ingredients, utilize code date labeling to ensure the highest quality menu items are served
  • Performs routine cleaning and organization of workstations, equipment, all food production and food storage areas of the operation
