The Cook 1 position is a vital role within this kitchen environment. The cook will manage the quantity and type of food and supplies, ensuring all items are available for preparation on time. This role involves setting up steam tables, serving food either for tray lines or dining rooms, and adhering strictly to sanitation standards and food handling best practices. The Cook 1 must store food items properly, mark dates for traceability, and report any equipment malfunctions to supervisors promptly. Planning food production to align with meal service times is essential to preserve the excellence, quality, temperature, and presentation of meals served. Daily record keeping, including food production and temperature checks before service, forms an essential part of this position.

Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting and handling items up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling. Manual dexterity, as well as auditory and visual skills, are necessary to follow written and oral instructions efficiently.
