Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • one or more years of work experience in production cooking preferably in a healthcare or high volume short order cooking environment
  • ability to learn and follow established policies and procedures
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • ability to perform simple math calculations
  • good interpersonal skills
  • ability to perform tasks within limited time frames
  • food handler certification as required

Job Duties

  • prepare and cook hot and cold food items using standardized recipes and calculate production quantities based on production forecast, tally sheets and catering orders
  • work in the retail cafe grill area and/or cook breakfast items
  • record over production and run outs, write directions and calculate production quantities
  • check and log food and equipment temperatures and report any problems to the supervisor
  • maintain par levels of food and supplies, order and/or restock items according to established routines, rotate food stocks and check freshness dates
  • keep assigned work areas clean and orderly
  • assist other kitchen and dietary staff as needed and assigned
  • oversee scheduled shifts for efficiency as required
  • follow established procedures, recipes and work routines under general supervision
