Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • good communication skills in English both reading and speaking
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • current Food Handler's Permit from Kansas City, MO, Independence, Jackson County, or Clay County or willing to get one within 30 days of hire
  • ability to follow recipes, scale portions, and operate large kitchen equipment
  • physical ability to handle the demands of a busy kitchen, including lifting and carrying hot containers

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals from standardized recipes for patients, residents, staff, and visitors
  • operate large kitchen equipment like ovens, mixers, steamers, and more safely and confidently
  • use portion scales, measure ingredients, and ensure food consistency and quality
  • follow all food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards
  • communicate with the kitchen team and supervisors to keep meal service smooth and on time
  • lift, twist, bend, and move containers of hot food
