The position of Cook at Gulf Coast Restaurant Group is vital in maintaining the high standards the company is known for. This role involves the preparation and/or direction of food preparation ensuring compliance with sanitation, health, and personal hygiene regulations. The cook must follow established food production programs and procedures diligently while utilizing kitchen supplies and equipment responsibly to reduce waste, loss, and fraud. This position demands accuracy, attention to detail, and dedication to upholding the quality of every meal served.
In this role, a cook is responsible for preparing food according to standardized recipes and special diet orders, storing food properly with date markings, and ensuring that food is served correctly in the dining room. The job requires skills in handling kitchen equipment like ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers, and knives safely. The kitchen environment is dynamic and physically demanding, involving exposure to high temperatures, steam, smoke, and frequent contact with food items and sanitation solutions. Employees need to be able to perform repetitive motions, lift weights up to 50 pounds, and work standing for extended periods.
The cook plays a significant role in maintaining a clean and organized work area, performing cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, and conducting food temperature checks before service. The role requires flexibility, collaboration, stress management, and a customer-focused approach to deliver the best possible food experience. Although this position does not have supervisory responsibilities, it is a critical operational role that ensures smooth kitchen workflows and upholds the group’s standards of quality and efficiency.

Job Duties
- Prepares food served using established production procedures and systems
- serves or ensures proper serving of food for dining room
- complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene and health standards
- stores food properly and safely, marking the date and item
- reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance to supervisor
- correctly prepares all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders
- apportions food for serving
- prepare assigned food items
- wash and clean raw food products
- peel, dice, shred and slice food products using kitchen equipment
- measure and assemble ingredients and cook items according to recipes and menu specifications
- grill, deep fry, bake, broil and microwave raw and prepped foods
- complete daily/weekly cleaning and maintenance of equipment
- stock/restock items on line according to specifications
- keeps work area neat and clean at all times
- cleans and maintains equipment used in food preparation
- completes food temperature checks before service
