Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum two years of kitchen preparation and cooking experience
  • At least six months experience in a similar capacity
  • Current SERVSAFE certification or completed sanitation course within past year
  • Current food handler's card

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other food products
  • Prepare and portion food products prior to cooking
  • Perform plating and garnishing of cooked items including preparing appropriate garnishes for all menu item plates
  • Take inventory of items required for station set-up and prepare necessary items
  • Set-up station and ensure readiness 15 minutes prior to service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Follow recipe cards precisely
  • Maintain high quality standards for all food leaving the window
  • Assume full responsibility for quality of products served
  • Work efficiently at all workstations
  • Keep food items properly covered, dated, and rotated
  • Prepare a variety of food items using various cooking methods including broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing
  • Utilize knife skills effectively
  • Assist in other kitchen areas during slow periods
  • Follow 'clean as you work' policy and accident prevention procedures
  • Report to work in uniform and maintain cleanliness
  • Attend kitchen meetings
  • Clean and restock station at end of shift
  • Adapt shifts as needed to meet business demands
  • Follow safety procedures for operating and cleaning kitchen machinery
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors
  • Maintain proper par stock levels
  • Inform management of food quality or production issues
  • Keep walk-in cooler organized
  • Work holidays and weekends as required
  • Assist in supervision and instruction of subordinate cooks
  • Lead kitchen staff in absence of chef or supervisor
