Job Description
Behavioral Health Network (BHN) is a mission-driven agency dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable, and culturally appropriate behavioral health care services across Massachusetts. Established in 1938, BHN has grown into a respected leader in the behavioral health sector, operating over 130 programs statewide with a workforce of approximately 3,000 employees. The organization’s commitment to client empowerment, human rights, and community integration drives its efforts to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals striving for recovery and stability. BHN offers supportive, inclusive environments where employees are valued as essential contributors to its mission, fostering personal and professional growth while promoting community well-being.
Within this dynamic and compassionate setting, BHN is seeking a dedicated Cook to join the team. This temporary position offers a competitive wage of $22 per hour and a unique opportunity to utilize your culinary expertise to positively impact individuals in recovery. The Cook will play a vital role in managing kitchen operations that ensure nutritious, balanced meals prepared in compliance with health and safety standards. This role is integral to supporting the overall well-being of residents by addressing dietary needs and maintaining effective communication across staff and those served. The work schedule includes shifts on Monday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
As a Cook at BHN, you will provide direct supervision to kitchen staff, overseeing daily tasks to maintain smooth and safe food preparation processes. You will be responsible for ordering food supplies, planning menus that cater to the dietary requirements of individuals served, and ensuring that the kitchen environment meets stringent Department of Public Health standards. Maintaining ServSafe certification and meeting compliance standards are mandatory components of your duties, emphasizing safety and quality control in every meal served. In this role, you will contribute not only your culinary skills but also your organizational and supervisory capabilities, ensuring a warm, welcoming, and healthy environment for both staff and residents. BHN invites candidates with a passion for food service and a commitment to supporting behavioral health recovery to apply and become part of an inspiring team making a daily impact.
