Summit's mission aligns with promoting not only food service excellence but also fostering positive social interactions during meals, which contribute to overall well-being in correctional environments. Partnered with Elior North America, a leader in food service management and an equal opportunity employer, Summit is committed to fostering diversity, employee growth, and career advancement opportunities. Elior North America supports its employees with ongoing skill development and encourages an inclusive workforce free from discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status.
The role of Cook Supervisor at Summit's correctional facility in Ogden, Utah, is a full-time, onsite position with a starting wage of $18.00 per hour. This role is integral to the smooth operation and high standards of the facility's kitchen team. As a Cook Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising kitchen staff to maintain efficiency, quality, and compliance with food safety standards. This position requires a hands-on leader who can instruct and train employees on food service and sanitation practices. You will oversee meal services to ensure they start on time and that food items meet portion, appearance, and temperature standards. This role demands excellent multitasking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with an emphasis on scratch cooking techniques.
The ideal candidate will possess at least one year of culinary experience in a quality, high-volume setting, have comprehensive knowledge of culinary methods and food safety standards, and demonstrate proficiency in supervising teams. Food Handlers certification is preferred but not mandatory. The position offers various benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, voluntary accident and critical illness coverage, commuter benefits like parking and transit, employee assistance programs, 401(k) plans, paid sick time, holiday pay for nine paid holidays, tuition reimbursement for full-time employees, and paid time off.
This Cook Supervisor role offers a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven company that prioritizes nutrition, quality service, and employee development within the corrections food service segment.
