Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by first day of work
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods
  • Ability to tolerate temperature extremes and cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to communicate effectively and understand spoken information
  • Ability to utilize manual dexterity for equipment operation
  • Three or more years of relevant cooking experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by first day of work
  • ServSafe certification to be obtained within 90 days if not current
  • Three or more years of experience as a Cook in healthcare or restaurant setting preferred
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of safe food handling techniques
  • Ability to prioritize workflow, use timelines, and meet deadlines
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Understanding of modified diets and preparation techniques preferred
  • Experience with commercial cooking equipment preferred

Job Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and cook foods for cafe, patient, and catering settings
  • Lead culinary team in the absence of other leadership
  • Follow recipes and instructions for food preparation
  • Maintain organized and sanitary work environment
  • Maintain proper quantities of production and product rotation
  • Interact with customers in various venues
  • Deliver patient meals, cashier, stock supplies, and operate ware-washing machines
  • Provide after-hours supervision when supervisor or chef is absent
