Job Requirements

  • regular attendance to perform work on site during scheduled shifts is required
  • ability to obtain ServeSafe certification within six months of hire
  • ability to obtain HACCP training after hire
  • physical ability to lift, bend, kneel, reach, and stand for long periods
  • ability to interact effectively with others
  • ability to operate computers and other office equipment
  • ability to see and read computer monitors and documents

Job Qualifications

  • ServeSafe certification within six months of hire
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • experience in healthcare food service preferred
  • minimum six months experience in quantity food preparation preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • ability to follow food safety standards and regulations
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • knowledge of HACCP guidelines

Job Duties

  • Lead the work of associates in the department
  • act as a resource and provide technical support
  • assist with creating new and substitute menu items
  • review daily menus to determine food and supply quantities needed
  • prepare food for cafeteria and catering using creativity, quality, consistency, and promptness
  • educate and coach associates to comply with recipe standards and demonstrate cooking techniques
  • monitor and replenish food for cafeteria, catering, or patient trays
  • ensure food handling and storage comply with Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines
  • operate kitchen equipment and maintain cleanliness
  • record refrigerator temperatures and ensure equipment is in good working condition
  • monitor supply and equipment inventory
  • notify leadership of equipment repairs and maintenance needs
  • ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and departmental policies
  • promote Intermountain Health mission, vision, and values
  • perform other duties as assigned
