Job Requirements
- Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required
- ServeSafe certification to be acquired within 6 months of hire
- Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Point (HACCP) training to be obtained after hire
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching
- Ability to operate kitchen and office equipment including computers
- Ability to remain sitting or standing for long periods
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to comply with food safety guidelines and regulatory standards
- Must be able to perform essential job duties satisfactorily
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a healthcare facility, such as health care food service
- Minimum 6 months experience in quantity food preparation, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Ability to acquire ServeSafe certification within 6 months of hire
- Ability to obtain Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Point (HACCP) training after hire
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends
Job Duties
- Leads the work of the associates in the department
- Acts as a resource and provides technical support
- Assists with creating new and substitute menu items
- Reviews menus daily to determine quantities of food and supplies needed
- Prepares food for cafeteria and catering using creativity, quality, consistency, and promptness
- Services as resource to educate/coach follow and comply with recipe standards
- Demonstrate various cooking techniques
- Monitors and replenishes food as needed for cafeteria, catering, or patient trays
- Ensures food is being handled and stored to Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines
- Operates various types of kitchen equipment and maintain cleanliness
- Records temperatures of refrigerators
- Ensures equipment is in good working condition
- Monitors supply and equipment inventory
- Notifies leadership team of needed equipment repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and established departmental policies and procedures and safety standards
- Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards
- Performs other duties as assigned
