Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalency preferred
- Completion of Food Preparation Assistant course preferred
- Working knowledge of USDA School Meal Programs preferred
- Working knowledge of methods, principles, equipment, and materials used in institutional food preparation
- Working knowledge of sanitation, health, and occupational safety procedures used in institutional food preparation
- Ability to operate and maintain food service equipment and kitchen machinery
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, menus, and recipes
- Ability to establish and maintain effective public and working relationships and good customer service skills

Job Duties
- Plan menus and order food, paper products, and cleaning supplies as needed
- Take routine inventory of utensils, supplies, and equipment and report findings
- Receive deliveries, date mark and review quality of food items, and stock properly
- Prepare food items according to menus and standardized recipes with adjustments as needed
- Operate kitchen machinery such as mixers, ovens, slicers, and coffee urns
- Clean, maintain, and sanitize work areas, utensils, appliances, and kitchen equipment
- Sweep, mop floors, empty wastebaskets, and clean restrooms to maintain sanitary conditions
