Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Previous experience in dietary department of healthcare or similar preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and proper food-handling techniques
  • Ability to prepare and cook large quantities of food
  • Familiarity with special dietary needs and portion control guidelines
  • Ability to work full-time and on-call shifts including weekends
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and meal schedules

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstration of core values including love, kindness, honesty, goodness, fairness, and respect
  • High school diploma preferred or ability to read and write English
  • Previous experience in dietary department of healthcare facility preferred
  • Ability to prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities
  • Knowledge of special diets, seasoning requirements, cooking times, and temperature controls
  • Ability to estimate food quantities, limit waste, and utilize leftovers while serving appetizing meals

Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook, and season meals including meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, fruits, soups, salads, desserts, breads, and pastries
  • Comply with meal schedules and follow standard recipes with independent decision making
  • Handle food safely following proper food-handling techniques
  • Prepare foodstuffs including peeling, washing, trimming, and cutting
  • Taste, smell, and observe food to ensure conformity with recipes and presentation
  • Serve food according to dietary guidelines ensuring tray accuracy and completeness
  • Cook using various methods such as baking, roasting, stewing, and steaming, making gravies, stocks, sauces, and soups
