The community prioritizes a respectful and loving atmosphere where both residents and team members thrive. As a non-exempt, full-time position paying $19.50 per hour plus additional compensation based on experience, the Cook role plays a vital part in this mission by ensuring residents receive balanced, nutritious, and appetizing meals tailored to their needs.
The Cook at MorningStar Senior Living is responsible for preparing, cooking, seasoning, and serving a wide range of meals including meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, fruits, soups, salads, desserts, breads, and pastries according to scheduled menus. This position demands knowledge of food safety regulations, dietary guidelines, proper cooking techniques, and portion control to ensure each meal is both safe and enjoyable for the senior residents. The role requires familiarity with handling fresh ingredients, following recipes while making thoughtful adjustments based on experience, estimating food quantities to minimize waste, and presenting attractive dishes. The Cook is entrusted with the responsibility of upholding the highest standards of food preparation and service within compliance of federal and state regulations as well as company policies.

The position involves collaboration with dietary teams to meet the diverse nutritional needs of the community, often tailoring meals for special diets with careful seasoning and temperature control. MorningStar Senior Living emphasizes career growth and offers opportunities such as tuition reimbursement, career development programs, and advancement paths, making this role ideal for someone with a passion for culinary arts and community service. Additional benefits include health insurance options (medical, dental, vision), life and disability insurance, 401(k) with matching, paid sick and vacation days, employee assistance programs, and more. This position requires flexibility to work weekends occasionally and a genuine commitment to MorningStar's core values of Love, Kindness, Honesty, Goodness, Fairness, and Respect. Joining MorningStar Senior Living means becoming part of a community, dedicated not only to excellent senior care but also to nurturing team members' professional and personal growth.
