Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED certificate
  • minimum two years food service experience including one year in commercial or institutional kitchen setting
  • valid New Mexico driver’s license
  • ability to maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license
  • pass applicable background check
  • pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • comply with county drug and alcohol policy for safety-sensitive positions

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED certificate from an accredited institution
  • minimum two years experience in the food service industry with at least one year in a commercial or institutional kitchen preparing food for large groups
  • ability to plan and prepare large volume meals
  • knowledge of state environmental food service and food processing regulations
  • supervisory experience preferred
  • valid New Mexico driver’s license
  • ability to pass background check and drug and alcohol screening

Job Duties

  • plan and perform duties essential to the proper preparation of food and serving of meals in accordance with standardized menus and state nutritional requirements
  • prepare and maintain records of food service and supply activities including daily usage and monthly supply orders
  • prepare and serve foods including baking pastries, preparing salads, desserts, soups, and entrees while ensuring quality control through inspection and tasting
  • perform cleaning duties to meet inspection standards and supervise kitchen staff and volunteers
  • attend training sessions and provide feedback on staff performance
  • prepare foods for homebound persons and utilize kitchen equipment including dishwasher, mixer, blender, slicer, ovens, and others
  • report equipment maintenance issues and recommend solutions
