The Cook position at Church's Chicken plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and consistency of the food served to customers. Reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager within the Field Operations department, the Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food products according to detailed specifications outlined in the Church's Operating Standards Manual (OSM). This role requires meticulous attention to detail, cleanliness, orderliness, and adherence to company procedures to guarantee customer satisfaction and food safety. The employee must manage food preparation tasks efficiently while maintaining a safe and hygienic work environment. This full-time position involves physically demanding work, including frequent lifting and standing, emphasizing the importance of stamina and physical fitness.

Key responsibilities of the Cook include setting up and maintaining the batter table, ensuring fryers are properly balanced and cleaned, and preparing chicken and other food items following standard operating procedures. Additionally, this role demands effective inventory management to ensure all necessary supplies are available, along with strict compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines. The Cook must perform duties with a proactive approach, maintaining cleanliness throughout the shift using clean-as-you-go practices and supporting other team members as needed. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking or food preparation experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and frequently lift 35 to 50 pounds
  • Capability to stand and walk for up to eight hours
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to use and maintain kitchen equipment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Sets up the batter table and prepares batter mix
  • Ensures call sheets are complete, posted and used
  • Checks all equipment and reports malfunctions to the Manager in Charge
  • Color balances fryers and maintains proper shortening levels
  • Filters and cleans fryers at designated times using safety equipment
  • Pans sufficient chicken for operational needs
  • Prepares and cooks food products as directed
  • Ensures food meets specifications, quality standards, and holding times
  • Maintains clean work area using clean-as-you-go practices
  • Verifies product and supplies availability in batter area
  • Organizes and cleans the cooler
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by Manager in Charge
