The role of Cook at Church's Chicken is a vital position within the Field Operations Department, reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager. This role involves preparing and cooking food products with strict adherence to specifications and procedures as outlined in the Church's Operating Standards Manual (OSM). The Cook is responsible for ensuring that all food products meet quality standards, safety procedures, and timely preparation to support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Cook must manage preparation tasks such as setting up the batter table, mixing batter, maintaining fryer temperatures and cleanliness, and cooking chicken according to prescribed guidelines. This position demands thorough attention to detail, teamwork, and dedication to hygiene and safety.
The Cook must execute primary functions including equipment checks, fryer maintenance and filtering, and careful monitoring of food preparation timeframes. The role also involves secondary tasks such as maintaining cleanliness in the work area, verifying stock supplies, and organizing the cooler. Physically demanding, the position requires lifting medium to heavy items (up to 75 pounds occasionally), frequent standing and walking for periods up to eight hours, as well as frequent stooping, squatting, and reaching.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift medium to heavy weights up to 75 pounds occasionally
- Capability to stand and walk for extended periods up to 8 hours
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Adherence to safety and sanitation guidelines
- Availability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
- Ability to communicate effectively with team and management
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Set up the batter table and prepare batter mix
- Ensure call sheets are complete, posted and used
- Check all equipment and report malfunctions immediately
- Color balance fryers and maintain shortening levels
- Filter and clean fryers according to safety guidelines
- Pan sufficient chicken for operational needs
- Prepare and cook all food products as directed
- Ensure food meets specifications, procedures and quality standards including holding times
- Maintain a clean work area by practicing clean-as-you-go
- Verify all necessary product and supplies are stocked
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the cooler
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Manager in Charge of Shift
