The role of Cook at Church's Chicken is centered on preparing and cooking food products according to the specifications outlined in the Church’s Operating Standards Manual (OSM). Reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager and operating within the Field Operations Department, this position requires an individual who can efficiently accomplish cooking tasks while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and adherence to food safety standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up the batter table, preparing bird pans, and ensuring fryers are properly balanced and maintained. Additionally, they will monitor quality by following strict cooking processes and holding times to guarantee that every food item served meets the high standards expected by the brand.

This position requires someone who can work in a fast-paced environment, be detail-oriented, and prioritize safety at all times, including the use of designated safety equipment. Physical stamina is also essential, given the demands of frequent standing, lifting, and moving heavy items. The cook will collaborate closely with managers and fellow team members to ensure smooth operations during their shifts, maintaining a clean and orderly work area through "clean-as-you-go" practices. The role encompasses not only the primary duties related to food preparation but also secondary functions such as inventory verification, maintaining cleanliness in stock areas, and other tasks assigned by management.

Job Duties

  • Sets up the batter table and prepares batter mix
  • Ensures call sheets are complete, posted, and used
  • Checks equipment and reports malfunctions
  • Color balances fryers and maintains shortening levels
  • Filters and cleans fryers following safety guidelines
  • Pans sufficient chicken for operational needs
  • Prepares and cooks food products as directed
  • Ensures food products meet quality and safety standards as per the OSM
  • Maintains clean work area by practicing clean-as-you-go
  • Verifies stocked products and supplies at batter area
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of cooler
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by Manager in Charge
