The company is currently hiring for the position of Cook within the Field Operations department. Reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager, the Cook plays a critical role in preparing and cooking food products in accordance with the specifications and procedures outlined in the Church’s Operating Standards Manual (OSM). This position is essential to maintaining the brand's high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The Cook is responsible for setting up the batter table, prepping batter mix, ensuring equipment functionality, balancing and filtering fryers, and pans chicken to meet operational needs. Every action in the kitchen must comply with the exacting quality standards and holding times specified, ensuring that every product served meets Church's Chicken’s reputation for excellence.

Working in this role requires a strong focus on cleanliness, safety, and organization, as well as the ability to complete tasks in a timely, clean, and orderly fashion. Secondary responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and organization of workstations and coolers, verifying stock availability, and performing other kitchen-related duties as designated by the Manager in Charge of the Shift. The physical demands of the job require the Cook to lift medium to heavy weights regularly, stand or walk on hard floors for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions necessary for food preparation and equipment operation.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours on hard floors
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment safely
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
  • Availability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Set up the batter table and prepare batter mix
  • Ensure call sheets are complete, posted, and used
  • Check all equipment and report malfunctions to the Manager in Charge
  • Color balance fryers and add sufficient shortening to maintain proper levels
  • Filter and clean fryers at designated times following safety guidelines
  • Pan sufficient chicken for operational needs
  • Prepare and cook food products according to business needs and Manager in Charge's direction
  • Ensure all food products meet specifications, procedures, and quality standards including designated holding times
  • Maintain a clean work area by practicing clean-as-you-go and following sanitation and safety guidelines
  • Verify product and supply stock at the batter area
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the cooler
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager in Charge
