The Cook position at Church's Chicken plays a crucial role in maintaining the brand's reputation for high-quality food and exceptional customer service. Reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager and operating under the Field Operations department, the Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food products in accordance with the detailed specifications and procedures outlined in Church's Operating Standards Manual (OSM). This role requires strict adherence to food safety regulations, cleanliness protocols, and operational guidelines to ensure that each food item served meets company standards and satisfies customer expectations. The Cook's responsibilities extend beyond food preparation to include equipment checks, inventory management at the batter table, fryer maintenance, and timely communication with management about any operational issues.
Working in this role demands physical stamina and the ability to perform various tasks in a fast-paced environment. The Cook will frequently stand or walk on hard floors for extended periods, handle lifting of medium to heavy loads up to 75 pounds, and engage in activities such as cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the kitchen and storage areas. Additionally, adherence to safety practices, including the use of provided safety equipment when handling fryers and other kitchen machinery, is essential.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours continuously
- Ability to follow safety protocols and use safety equipment
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking preferred
- Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow detailed operating procedures and recipes

Job Duties
- Set up the batter table, collect all necessary smallwares, and prepare batter mix
- Ensure that call sheets are complete, posted and used
- Check all equipment and immediately report any malfunctions to the Manager in Charge
- Color balance fryers and add sufficient shortening to maintain proper shortening level
- Filter and clean all fryers at designated times following safety guidelines
- Pan sufficient chicken for operational needs
- Prepare and cook all food products as directed by the Manager in Charge
- Ensure all food products meet specifications, procedures, and quality standards with strict observance of holding times
- Maintain a clean work area using clean-as-you-go practices and follow sanitation and safety procedures
- Verify that all necessary product and supplies are stocked and available at the batter area
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the cooler
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by Manager in Charge of Shift
