This role is part of the Field Operations department and reports directly to the Restaurant General Manager. The Cook position is integral to the restaurant's daily operations, responsible for preparing and cooking food products following the strict specifications and procedures outlined in the Church's Operating Standards Manual (OSM). This ensures that every dish served meets the brand's recognized quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of punctuality, cleanliness, and orderliness in executing tasks.

The main responsibilities involve setting up the batter table, preparing batter mixes, managing and balancing fryers, filtering and cleaning fryers according to safety guidelines, and ensuring sufficient food preparation to meet operational demands. The role requires maintaining the quality and consistency of food products, adhering strictly to designated holding times, and addressing any equipment malfunctions promptly.

Additionally, maintaining a clean and organized workspace through "clean-as-you-go" practices and proper sanitation protocols is essential. The Cook must ensure all necessary supplies and products are readily stocked in their respective areas, including batter stations and coolers. The role also requires physical capability to handle medium to heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally) and the ability to perform tasks involving standing, walking, climbing, carrying, reaching, and handling a variety of food items safely and efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand and walk on hard floors for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to handle food preparation tasks including reaching, stooping, climbing
  • Knowledge of safety procedures including use of safety equipment
  • Availability to work flexible shifts as required
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and food quality standards
  • Compliance with Church's Chicken policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in food preparation or cooking preferred

Job Duties

  • Set up the batter table and prepare batter mix
  • Ensure call sheets are complete, posted and used
  • Check all equipment and report malfunctions to the Manager in Charge
  • Color balance fryers and maintain proper shortening levels
  • Filter and clean fryers following safety guidelines
  • Pan sufficient chicken for operational needs
  • Prepare and cook food products according to specifications and business needs
  • Ensure food meets quality standards and designated holding times
  • Maintain a clean work area practicing 'clean-as-you-go' sanitation
  • Stock necessary products and supplies at batter area
  • Organize and clean the cooler
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Manager in Charge
