Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 1-year experience as a cook or similar role
- ability to work Monday-Friday or Wednesday-Sunday 11:30am-7:30pm
- ability to work onsite in Tacoma, WA
- commitment to food safety and hygiene standards
- ability to perform administrative tasks and documentation
- pre-employment substance abuse testing required
- maintain drug-free workplace compliance
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 1-year experience as a cook or similar role
- knowledge of food safety regulations and standards
- ability to follow standardized recipes and dietary instructions
- strong attention to detail
- good communication skills
- ability to work collaboratively with nutritionists, dietitians, and other staff
- ability to maintain cleanliness and safety in food preparation areas
Job Duties
- Review menus prior to preparation of food
- inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to each patient
- perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms and reports
- work with clinical nutritionist and dietitian and implement recommended changes
- ensure all food procedures are followed according to policies and procedures
- assist in establishing a food service production line
- process diet changes and new diets from Nursing Department
- prepare meals according to planned menus
- prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing
- serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
- prepare food for therapeutic diets
- prepare food according to standardized recipes and special diet orders
- ensure all meals are ready to be served at designated meal times
- oversee dishwashing and daily garbage removal
- adhere to all kitchen, dining room, and site HACCP procedures
- ensure proper receipt, storage, and rotation of all foods
- prepare and serve patients nutritional snacks
- assure appropriate cutlery and equipment with each meal
- assist Director of Dietary Services in reviewing treatment plans
- prepare and serve substitute foods to patients who refuse foods served
