Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • three years of cooking experience in a similar setting
  • SERV Safe certification
  • ability to work in fast-paced kitchen environment
  • physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely
  • strong communication skills to interact with residents and staff
  • flexibility to adapt to changing menus and resident dietary needs
  • adherence to food safety and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • minimum three years cooking experience in a similar environment
  • knowledge of nutrition and special dietary requirements for seniors
  • familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
  • ability to adapt to changing menus and dietary needs
  • physical stamina to stand long periods and lift heavy items
  • SERV Safe certification required
  • culinary arts or food service management degree or certificate preferred

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with culinary team to plan menus meeting nutritional and dietary needs of seniors
  • prepare meals according to recipes and portion sizes ensuring proper temperature and presentation
  • modify recipes to accommodate dietary restrictions such as low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, and pureed diets
  • manage kitchen operations including inventory control, supply ordering, and food storage compliance
  • maintain food safety, sanitation, and compliance with health regulations
  • engage with residents during meal service addressing concerns and fostering a welcoming dining atmosphere
  • work collaboratively with kitchen staff, assist in training new staff, and support team efficiency
  • gather and use resident meal feedback to improve menu offerings continuously
  • maintain cleanliness, monitor equipment, and follow safety protocols in the kitchen environment
  • exercise proper knife skills and perform other duties as assigned
