Sonia's Seafood is a well-established seafood restaurant located in Miami, FL, known for its fresh seafood offerings and dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. We are currently seeking motivated individuals to fill two vital roles in our kitchen: Prep Cook and Line Cook. Both positions report directly to the Sous Chef and Kitchen Manager and play critical roles in maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and kitchen efficiency. These are hands-on, fast-paced roles that require attention to detail, speed, and adherence to food safety protocols. The Prep Cook focuses mainly on preparing ingredients, handling seafood, and supporting kitchen operations by ensuring all stations are stocked, organized, and ready for service. This includes cleaning, cutting, portioning ingredients, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen. The Line Cook is responsible for cooking and assembling menu items during service, executing orders quickly and accurately, and maintaining consistency and presentation quality. Both roles require teamwork, communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure during busy service periods.

Sonia's Seafood offers full-time and part-time shifts, with expectations for availability during nights, weekends, and holidays. Pay is based on experience, and growth opportunities are provided within the company for individuals who demonstrate strong performance and a professional attitude. Physical stamina is important as candidates must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment that includes exposure to hot, cold, wet, and slippery conditions. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous kitchen or prep experience preferred
  • ability to follow recipes and kitchen procedures
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • strong attendance and punctuality
  • must be comfortable handling raw seafood
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • good communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen or prep experience preferred
  • experience handling seafood is a plus
  • ability to follow recipes and instructions
  • strong attention to detail and organization
  • previous line cook experience preferred
  • experience in high-volume kitchens preferred
  • ability to work under pressure
  • Spanish preferred
  • basic to intermediate English preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards
  • wash, cut, portion, and store vegetables, proteins, and other ingredients
  • follow prep lists and daily production schedules
  • clean, cut, portion, and prepare seafood as required
  • follow proper thawing, storage, and handling procedures
  • ensure seafood is fresh, properly labeled, and stored correctly
  • follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
  • maintain proper labeling, dating, and FIFO rotation
  • keep prep areas clean, organized, and stocked
  • assist with receiving and storing deliveries
  • support line cooks and kitchen team as needed
  • clean and sanitize prep stations, tools, and equipment
  • prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and standards
  • ensure proper portioning, presentation, and quality
  • execute orders quickly and accurately during service
  • maintain consistency across all dishes
  • set up and stock assigned station before service
  • maintain organization and cleanliness during service
  • communicate with kitchen team and FOH during service
  • support other stations when needed
  • execute orders accurately and efficiently
  • maintain strong communication and teamwork
